Description
Bonanza The Vinekeeper Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Chuck Wagner and his late parents, Lorna and Charlie, started Caymus Vineyards in 1972. They were a family of farmers with roots in Napa Valley dating back to the 1850s. Today, the family’s two Cabernet Sauvignons – Caymus Napa Valley and Caymus Special Selection – are among the region’s most celebrated wines.
Chuck now works alongside two of his children, Charlie and Jenny, and the family produces diverse wines from Napa Valley, other parts of California and beyond. Continually pursuing new ideas, they feel extremely fortunate to spend their days farming grapes and making wine.
We started making Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon in 2019 and have been on a path of discovery ever since, as we explore vineyard sites off the beaten track that produce delicious Cabernet Sauvignon throughout California. “The Vinekeeper” will showcase different areas over time – this debut comes from Napa Valley, renowned for its unique ability to produce exciting wine. Beautifully balanced – rich, fruit-driven, round and ripe.
Bonanza The Vinekeeper Napa Cabernet Sauvignon pours a rich, medium-to-deep ruby color and opens with inviting aromas of ripe dark berries such as blackberry and cassis, layered with black cherry, cocoa, vanilla, and subtle oak spice. The palate is generous and fruit-forward, delivering flavors of blackberry, plum, and cherry compote complemented by notes of mocha, toasted vanilla, and warm baking spice. Smooth, supple tannins and balanced acidity provide structure, leading to a velvety, lingering finish with gentle oak influence, making this a full-bodied yet highly approachable Napa Cabernet.
