Description
Il Chiurlo Maremma Toscana Red Blend
Il Chiurlo is a small, organically farmed estate born from the Bartolomei brothers’ desire to explore the full potential of Maremma Toscana, one of Tuscany’s most exciting and rapidly evolving wine regions. Located in the municipality of Cinigiano in the province of Grosseto, the estate sits at elevations of 350 to 450 metres on medium-textured soils, perfectly suited to the slow, even ripening of Sangiovese. Positioned between the Tyrrhenian coast and the slopes of Monte Amiata, the vineyard benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate tempered by altitude, producing wines of genuine depth and elegance. All grapes are grown using organic farming methods, allowing the land to express its character fully and without compromise.
The Il Chiurlo Rosso is a Sangiovese-led blend, with Cabernet Sauvignon playing a supporting role to add structure and complexity. Grapes are harvested in late September from vines trained on the traditional Cordon Spur system, then aged in French oak barrels and tonneaux, which lend the wine balance, roundness, and a layer of aromatic depth. The result is a wine that marries the soulful fruit of Tuscan Sangiovese with the polished structure of a thoughtfully crafted blend, reflecting both the terroir of Maremma and the dedication of the Bartolomei family.
