Description
Marchesi Antinori Il Bruciato Bolgheri Rosso Red Blend
Il Bruciato was born in 2002 at Tenuta Guado al Tasso, one of the most prestigious estates in the small but internationally acclaimed DOC of Bolgheri, located on the coast of the Alta Maremma, about a hundred kilometers southwest of Florence. The estate covers 1,000 hectares, approximately 320 planted with vineyards, set in a splendid plain surrounded by hills known as the “Bolghera amphitheater.” The remaining land is cultivated with wheat, sunflowers, and olive trees. Owned by the Antinori family, Tenuta Guado al Tasso is part of one of Italy’s most storied wine dynasties, with over 26 generations of winemaking heritage.
The vineyards are planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Vermentino. They benefit from a mild coastal climate where constant sea breezes mitigate summer heat and winter cold, maintain high insolation, and promote excellent fruit quality. The soils are of alluvial origin, ranging from clay-sandy to clay-silty, with a notable presence of the so-called “Bolgherese agglomerate,” a skeleton-rich mix unique to the appellation.
The 2023 vintage was shaped by a mild winter, attentive spring canopy management, a hot and dry July that triggered ideal ripening conditions, and a sunny, dry September that brought every parcel to full maturity. Grapes were harvested variety by variety from early September through the first days of October. After soft pressing and destemming, fermentation and maceration took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 1520 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred partly in barriques and partly in tank, followed by further aging in barrique before bottling.
