Description
Campo Piano Valpolicella Classico
The Winery
Tenuta Campo Piano is located in the historic Valpolicella Classico zone of Veneto, where hillside vineyards have produced elegant red wines for centuries. The estate focuses on traditional regional varieties and careful vineyard management, producing wines that reflect the freshness and purity typical of Valpolicella’s cooler hillside sites.
Their wines emphasize balance and drinkability, highlighting bright fruit, delicate aromatics, and the lively acidity that makes Valpolicella one of northern Italy’s most versatile food wines.
The Valpolicella Classico Region
Valpolicella Classico represents the original and most historic zone of Valpolicella, located just northwest of Verona between Lake Garda and the Lessini Mountains. The region’s hillside vineyards benefit from cooling mountain breezes and excellent sun exposure, allowing grapes to ripen while maintaining freshness.
The soils are largely calcareous and alluvial with gravel, providing excellent drainage and contributing to the lifted aromatics and bright red fruit character typical of wines from this area.
Vineyard & Production
This Valpolicella Classico is produced from traditional regional grapes grown at approximately 600 meters above sea level, where cooler temperatures help preserve freshness and aromatic complexity.
A short appassimento period of about 20 days allows the grapes to naturally dry before fermentation, gently concentrating flavor without creating heaviness.
The wine is then fermented for 20 days in stainless steel tanks and aged for five months in stainless steel, preserving the purity of fruit and the vibrant character that defines classic Valpolicella.
