Description
Ora Collective Chianti
The Organic & Regenerative Agriculture Collective is a grassroots network of pioneer producers who want to drive change through farming and wine. They produce authentic wines that are a natural expression of their terroir and have a positive impact on the environment. Through regenerative organic farming they work to rebuild healthy soils, draw carbon back into the ground, and keep the planet healthy. All wines are certified organic, vegan, native ferment, and use only minimal sulfur upon bottling.
Tuscany is the third-largest wine producer in Italy by planted area, but ranks eighth in terms of volume due to its emphasis on quality and lower yields. 90% of its production is red wine. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters, though conditions can vary significantly with proximity to the Apennines. In 1716 the Medici Family announced an edict to mark the wine production area of Chianti, one of the very first times that law stepped in to protect a region and its quality. This edict has continued to be respected ever since, including when the modern Italian system outlined the borders of Chianti.
The wine is mostly Sangiovese, with small amounts of Canaiolo, Colorino, and Merlot. Grapes are organically grown in Chianti Colli Fiorentini, handpicked, destemmed, and fermented naturally in tank. The wine is aged in concrete, followed by old barrique, and then further in bottle before release. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
