Description
Dry Fly Distilling Straight Triticale Whiskey
It begins with a river. Just a few years ago, we were knee-deep in the Gallatin River, just outside the lie on a scenic bend. It was still early and the sun was rising slowly behind the alders. It occurred to us how privileged we are to live, work, and fish in one of the most amazing places on Earth. We felt so fortunate that we wanted to find some way to share the natural beauty and purity of the great Northwest. What better way than by producing fly fishing-inspired distilled spirits, made from only the purest locally grown ingredients? Heck, even the name sort of presented itself. Dry Fly Distilling is a true craft distillery, located in beautiful Spokane, Washington. We produce award-winning vodka, gin, whiskies, and now bourbon using only locally grown grains and botanicals. Our stills, manufactured in Goppingen, Germany, are custom designed Christian Carl pot stills with multiple rectification columns. Dry Fly is owned and operated by Don Poffenroth and Kent Fleischmann, both former marketing executives. Dry Fly embraces the farm to bottle approach, producing every drop of liquor it sells from only raw materials grown locally by sustainable farms. We do not purchase bulk alcohol, nor do we think that is true craft distilling.
The first of it’s kind and a standout in the world of whiskey. Triticale, a single grain developed in Scotland in the late 1800s is a hybrid of wheat and rye. Aged 3 years in new, american oak 53 gallons, this whiskey is a beautiful blend of rye’s peppery boldness and the subtle refinement of wheat. Try it in your next old fashioned, you will not be disappointed!
