Description
Highland Park Viking Honour 12 Year Single Malt Scotch
Highland Park was born in 1798 when Magnus Eunson, by day a church beadle and butcher, by night a whisky smuggler—was finally granted a legal licence to distill on a plot of land aptly named “High Park,” near Kirkwall in Orkney. Far from the Scottish mainland, this remote island setting with its dramatic, wind-swept landscapes and heather-rich peat has deeply influenced the character of Highland Park’s whisky. For over two centuries, the distillery has honored centuries-old production methods: it malts some of its own barley by hand, dries it over aromatic Orkney peat, ages the spirit primarily in sherry-seasoned oak casks, and patiently harmonizes casks over time, all while never losing sight of its Viking heritage. Today, Highland Park stands as the northernmost single malt Scotch distillery, crafted with a Viking spirit that mirrors the rugged beauty and resilient community of Orkney.
Highland Park Viking Honour 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch opens with a delicate balance of honey sweetness, dried fruit, and subtle floral notes on the nose, layered with light peat smoke and gentle spice. On the palate, it delivers rich flavors of heather honey, malt, and sherry-seasoned oak, interwoven with warm spices, dried orange peel, and a soft wave of aromatic peat that adds depth without overpowering. The finish is long, smooth, and well-rounded, leaving lingering notes of sweet smoke, honey, and gentle spice that capture the signature Highland Park style.
