Introducing Jefferson’s Tropics Aged in Humidity, founder Trey Zoeller’s latest innovation and the newest addition to the Jefferson’s family. Tropics exposes barrels of fully mature Kentucky straight bourbon to unrelenting equatorial heat and humidity. The first expression of Jefferson’s Tropics hails from Singapore, which boasts an average daily temperature of 82.1° and an average daily humidity of 83.9%. In July 2019, 9 containers holding 720 barrels of fully mature Kentucky straight bourbon were shipped to Singapore via ocean carrier. For 18 months, the barrels were exposed to Singapore’s unrelenting heat and humidity in non-climate-controlled facilities, caramelizing and intensifying the bourbon flavors. The containers were shipped back to the U.S. in December 2021, arriving in Kentucky in March 2023, where Master Blender and Brand Founder Trey Zoeller determined the optimal taste profile, landing at 104 Proof. Tropics officially launched in the United States in September 2023. The science is clear: the extreme heat essentially slow cooks and caramelizes the sugars in the wood, resulting in a supple and thick mouthfeel. The colour of the Singapore whiskey, when adjusted to the final bottling strength of 52% (104 proof), is 10% darker in comparison to standard whiskey aged in Kentucky. This is the best humidity-aged bourbon on earth.
