Knob Creek Rye Single Barrel Store Pick
When Booker Noe created Knob Creek, he revived full-flavored, pre-prohibition style bourbon. Each bottle stands as a hard-earned piece of bourbon history. And each barrel? Well, each one is a story all its own, uniquely influenced by nature, time and its individual journey.
That’s why Knob Creek Single Barrel remains Knob Creek’s purest expression of old style flavor. Each bottle remains unblended, highlighting the singular characteristics of our finest hand-selected barrels.
We at Elma Wine & Liquor, with the help of a few customers, traveled to Kentucky this past June to select barrels of whiskey. Our first stop was the Clermont distillery, where we picked a single barrel of Knob Creek Bourbon and Knob Creek Rye. While we hadn’t planned on bringing back a rye, the team was kind enough to roll out a few barrels for us to sample. The variations between them were so striking that we almost selected two rye barrels! This experience was a great reminder of just how unique and expressive single barrels can be. In the end, we decided on one exceptional barrel and we’re thrilled to share it with you.
Our Knob Creek Rye Barrel Select was aged for 7 years, 1 month, and 24 days, and bottled at 116.9°. Knob Creek has recently returned to releasing these ryes at true cask strength, rather than the proofed-down 115° of past years, making this pick even more special.
