Peg Leg Porker Spirits is the story of Carey Bringle, a Nashville-native championship pitmaster who spent two decades on the barbecue competition circuit before opening Peg Leg Porker BBQ in The Gulch. A sponsorship with Jim Beam sparked a deep love for everyday, no-fuss bourbon, and in 2013 he laid down his first barrels of Tennessee straight bourbon with a simple philosophy: source the best mash, age it properly, and never put a bottle on the shelf that wasn’t worth his name on the label.

The brand has grown steadily since then, releasing an 8-Year expression in 2018, opening a Nashville bottling facility with a tasting bar in 2021, and earning the title of World’s Best Bourbon from the Tasting Alliance World Championship in 2023. The guiding ethos mirrors Bringle’s approach to barbecue: low and slow, no shortcuts, no watering things down to hit a price point. Every bottle is aged as long as it needs to be, not as long as it’s convenient.

Spirit of America is a limited edition Tennessee Straight Bourbon Bottled in Bond at 100 proof (50% ABV), releasing Memorial Day as a salute to America’s 250th anniversary. On the nose it offers honey, hickory smoke, and sun-warmed corn, leading into a palate of brown sugar, baking spice, toasted pecan, and soft char, with a long finish that’s built for a backyard and a cold beer chaser.
