Rare Character Hurst Knoll Rye pours a warm amber with golden highlights. The nose is led by rye spice, layered with toasted oak, caramelized sugar, vanilla, dried herbs, orange zest, and a touch of rye bread, all tied together by a brown sugar undertone that gives it an inviting, bakeshop-like warmth. On the palate, a medium-plus body opens with caramel, honeyed grain, and vanilla before cracked black pepper and cinnamon step in, rounded out by seasoned oak, dried herbs, and a hint of orange peel that keeps things bright and lively. The finish is long and warming, carrying baking spice, dark wood, and lingering caramel, with rye bread, black pepper, and a whisper of citrus pith that linger at the edges. Bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV).
