The Representative is a bold, barrel-proof straight bourbon from Proof and Wood’s DC Collection and the 2023 World Whiskies Awards World’s Best Bourbon. Distilled in Indiana from the same mash bill as Proof and Wood’s Deadwood Bourbon, then aged, blended, and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, this sultry small-batch expression is a must-try for lovers of barrel-strength whiskey. Non-chill filtered and drawn from approximately 20 barrels, it ages a minimum of 4 years, two Congressional terms, in charred oak before bottling.

This barrel-proof, non-chill filtered bourbon opens with aromas of dark fruit, rich oak, toffee, tree bark, and crème pâtissière with hints of browned butter and violet. On the palate, it delivers lightly roasted nuts, brown sugar, cherries, pepper, herbal notes, and a chewy richness of caramel and cinnamon-raisin bread. The finish is medium-to-long, softening out beautifully with earthy whispers of licorice root, tobacco, bitter herbs, and chocolate-covered cherries. Bottled at 115 proof, it is balanced, complex, and decidedly outside the typical bourbon profile, different, but very enjoyable.
