Description
Abbondanza Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Abbondanza farms certified organic vineyards in Loreto Aprutino, a hamlet of wild, unspoiled nature tucked between two of Abruzzo’s defining geographic forces: the Gran Sasso massif, the tallest glacial mountain peaks of Central Italy, and the Adriatic Sea just 20 kilometers to the east. The vineyards sit between 250 and 350 meters elevation on clay soils with a significant presence of limestone and sand, a combination that draws out the density, spice, and fleshy black fruit that Montepulciano is capable of at its best. Loreto Aprutino is widely considered the benchmark terroir for the grape, home to some of the most iconic expressions in the region.
The wine is 100% Montepulciano, fermented on skins in stainless steel for 10 days before spending four months maturing in 34-hectoliter neutral French oak casks.
