Description
Niepoort LBV Port
Niepoort has been a family name in Port wine since 1842, and today stands as one of only three family owned Port producers still in business. At the helm is Dirk Niepoort, one of Portugal’s most visionary winemakers, who has expanded the family’s reach into Douro dry wines, Bairrada, and Dao while never losing sight of the Port tradition that built the house.
The Nogueira family has served as master blenders for Niepoort’s Port wines for five generations, with that knowledge passed down alongside the Niepoort family’s own stewardship since the relationship began in 1842. Today Rodrigo Nogueira carries that mantle forward, working alongside winemaker Nick Delaforce. Most of the fruit comes from top growers in the Pinhao Valley, many of whom have held contracts with Niepoort for over a century, sourced from old vine vineyards over seventy years of age in the Cima Corgo section of the Douro.
