Description
Cooper Mountain Chardonnay
There is more Chardonnay planted in the world than any other white wine on planet earth. Considered to be both an easy-drinking, ice cube-worthy experience as well as the most coveted, collectible wines. Cooper Mountain’s story with Chardonnay begins at its founding, with the winery’s first plantings of Chardonnay in the volcanic soils that cover the hillsides and mountains.
The grapes for the Cooper Mountain Chardonnay are sourced from two of the oldest estate vineyards, Meadowlark Vineyard and Old Vines Vineyard, situated at elevations of 300 to 650 feet in volcanic soils. The 15-acre Meadowlark/Grabhorn and Corrine Vineyard, with its Saum/marine and basalt soils on south-facing slopes at 400 feet, provides ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay of exceptional character and complexity.
Organically grown and biodynamic, Cooper Mountain Chardonnay is fermented with native yeasts and aged for 8 months in 15% new French oak and 85% neutral oak. No additives or fining agents are used in crafting this wine. Harvested in mid-October, the grapes yield a wine of remarkable freshness and balance, with a clean and elegant finish.
This Chardonnay offers fresh cool fruit of apple skins and mineral that combine with zestful acid, delivering a crisp, focused, and organically grown expression of Willamette Valley. It pairs beautifully with crab, chicken, poached salmon, or creamy cheeses.
