Harsanyi Winery Tokaj Eye White Blend

Harsányi Winery sits just below the Megyer Hill Tengerszem near Sárospatak and has remained in the same family for over 170 years, apart from a break during the Rákosi era. The vineyards cover 17 hectares across four distinct sites called Királyhegy, Kútpatka, Megyer, and Ciróka where volcanic rhyolite tuff and the nearby Bodrog River influence soil structure and microclimate. Their estate wine Tokaj Eye blends all three traditional Tokaj varieties Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Muscat. Furmint contributes natural acidity and mineral structure, Hárslevelű adds notes of peach, nectarine, and apple, and Muscat brings floral aromatics. Farming is organic, and vines are pruned to six or seven bunches each to encourage concentration and site expression. Fermentations use only wild yeast and take place in stainless steel or neutral vessels depending on the grape and vintage. The Tokaj Eye is intended to reflect the region’s volcanic soil, grape diversity, and the estate’s long-standing connection to the land.

On the nose, it opens with delicate floral notes from Muscat, layered over ripe stone fruits like peach and nectarine from Hárslevelű, and a crisp green apple tone from Furmint. The palate is bright and lively, with juicy orchard fruit flavors balanced by the high natural acidity that comes from Tokaj’s volcanic soils. A touch of salinity and citrus adds complexity, and the texture is clean and precise. The finish is long and refreshing, leaving a lingering impression of minerality and subtle spice.
