The Sweet Red Blend is a harmonious marriage of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Pinotage, and 20% Shiraz, each variety bringing its own character to the final composition. The Cabernet Sauvignon hails from 21-year-old vines planted on the south-facing slopes of Riebeek Mountain, while the Pinotage and Shiraz come from younger trellised vines rooted in the region’s distinctive shale soils. Harvested in the cool early morning hours to preserve freshness and aromatic integrity, the Cabernet Sauvignon fermented on skins for seven days before a portion spent 12 months in third-fill barrels, lending the blend a quiet depth and structure. The Shiraz and Pinotage were fermented in stainless steel with gentle pump-overs, keeping the fruit bright and vibrant throughout.
