Along the sun-drenched banks of the Olifants River in South Africa’s Western Cape, warm days and dramatic growing conditions conspire to produce some of the country’s most aromatically vivid and expressive white fruit. It is here, in soils of decomposed granite and eroded shale shaped over countless seasons, that Jam Jar’s Sweet White finds its roots, drawn from vines averaging 29 years of age whose depth and maturity give the wine a richness and complexity that belies its breezy, joyful personality. Under the practiced hand of winemaker Clayton Christians, and earning a well-deserved “Best Buy” recognition from Wine Enthusiast, Jam Jar has crafted a white wine that is as approachable and fun as it is genuinely delicious.

The Sweet White is crafted from 100% Moscato, harvested at peak ripeness in March and handled with careful intention from the very first moment. After harvest, the juice was left on the skins for approximately six hours to coax out every layer of the grape’s remarkable aromatic generosity before pressing and cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation was artfully halted through cross filtration at approximately 10% ABV, locking in 40 to 50 grams per liter of natural residual sugar and preserving the grape’s vibrant natural acidity in perfect balance with its signature sweetness. The result is a wine that is certified IPW and gluten free, light as a breeze and twice as refreshing.

The Jam Jar Sweet White pours a pale, luminous straw with a clean, glittering clarity that catches the light with effortless charm. The nose is immediately irresistible, a jubilant burst of ripe white peach, exotic litchi, and fresh orange blossom tumbles forward with the kind of aromatic enthusiasm that makes the glass impossible to put down, underpinned by hints of sweet citrus and a gentle floral softness that speaks to the Moscato grape at its most expressive and playful. On the palate it is lush, juicy, and wonderfully light, flavors of peach and litchi glide across the tongue in a wave of sweet, fruity generosity, kept lively and fresh by a bright jolt of natural acidity that cuts through the sweetness and keeps every sip clean, balanced, and utterly moreish. The finish is soft, sweet, and gently lingering, fading with a floral warmth that makes it equally at home as a celebratory toast or a simple everyday pleasure.
