Description
Ludi Velenosi Offida Rosso DOC
Ludi takes its name from the Latin word “ludus,” meaning olympic games, underlining the close relationship between wine, pleasure, and enjoyment. The label draws inspiration from Matisse’s painting “Dance,” depicting four dancing figures forming a circle, a symbol of perfection. The figures are drawn with their faces on their bellies, a deliberate choice meant to send a message about both people and wine: get to know them in depth before passing judgment. Only after tasting and understanding the story behind a wine, the label suggests, can an opinion truly be formed.
The fruit comes from a 4-hectare, sustainably farmed vineyard in Offida, Castel di Lama, at 250 to 350 meters elevation on clay and limestone soils, planted on 45-year-old vines. After fermentation in stainless steel and 30 days of skin maceration, the wine ages in French oak barrels from Allier for 18 to 24 months, followed by 3 months in bottle before release. Ludi pairs especially well with meat-based dishes and aged cheeses.
