Description
Luigi Einaudi Dogliani Dolcetto DOCG
In 1897, a 23-year-old economics professor named Luigi Einaudi purchased his first farm in San Giacomo, Dogliani, convinced that agriculture could help lead Piedmont out of crisis. That same vision and passion for the land would carry him to the presidency of the first Italian Republic in 1948, a role he accepted without ever missing a harvest. Over four generations, the family has grown the estate to 150 hectares across the Langhe, from Dogliani to the celebrated slopes of Barolo, always with Dolcetto at the heart of what they do.
Dogliani is the spiritual home of the Dolcetto grape, and no estate is more closely associated with its finest expression than Poderi Luigi Einaudi. Fermented in steel and concrete tanks under strict temperature control, this is a traditional wine of easy charm and real depth, bottled to reflect the typicity of the village where it achieves its greatest character.
A ruby red tending toward violet, the 2022 Dogliani is bright and immediately inviting. The nose is expressive and fresh with black plum, violet, wild cherry, raspberry, and notes of iris and almond blossom. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied with a juicy, fruit-forward character, blackberry, red cherry, and a hint of ground pepper, supported by firm, refined tannins and lively acidity. A pleasantly dry, tannic finish carries a signature almond note, clean and persistent.
