Description
Moulin de Gassac Pinot Noir
Mas de Daumas Gassac is one of the founding estates of the modern Languedoc, established in 1974 by Aimé and Véronique Guibert on a property whose rare glacial soils, tested by a University of Bordeaux soil scientist, turned out to closely resemble those of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. The Guibert family has since built a reputation for singular wines grown across more than 40 grape varieties planted in small, forest enclosed parcels throughout the Gassac Valley, a site cooled by a nearby river, natural springs, and the surrounding mountains. Today the estate is run by winemaker Samuel Guibert and his brothers, who continue the family’s commitment to organic farming and low intervention winemaking.
Alongside its flagship Grand Vin, the Guibert family partnered with a neighboring cooperative in Sète to create the Moulin de Gassac range, a collection of vibrant, terroir driven wines grown organically across the surrounding Languedoc countryside. The Pinot Noir comes from vines averaging twenty five to fifty years old, farmed sustainably at low yields on rich clay and limestone soils in the Villeveyrac area.
