Description
Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay
Newton Vineyard was founded in 1977 by Peter and Su Hua Newton, who set out to create wines that captured the full, multifaceted character of Napa Valley. Their search led them to a single square mile of hillside on Spring Mountain, a site chosen for its dramatic elevation, cooling fog, and sweeping views of the valley below. Of the estate’s 490 acres, less than a fifth are planted to vine, with the remainder left in its native forested state as habitat for local wildlife.
Newton has been recognized as an American pioneer of unfiltered winemaking since the estate’s earliest vintages, and this Chardonnay remains one of its signature bottlings. The wine is crafted in an Old World style, undergoing natural fermentation and bottling without filtration, techniques the winery credits with preserving the depth of flavor, bouquet, and structure found in each bottle. Grapes are sourced from sites within Napa Valley chosen for their long, cool growing seasons, allowing the fruit to reach full ripeness while retaining bright acidity.
