Description
Shroud Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Paso Robles
Fun and fancy free, Shroud Mountain Reserve is meant to inspire one to babble on and on about anything that brings joy. The wine comes from Paso Robles, a hidden gem of California wine country located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, boasting stunning views, a pioneering spirit, and excellent wines without the bloated pricing of Napa and other big-name districts. The name Shroud Mountain refers to the fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean and blankets the local vineyards, cooling the vines and creating the long ripening seasons that enrich and deepen the flavors in the grapes.
This Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the historic Margarita Vineyard, planted by the legendary Robert Mondavi in the mid-1990s. After harvest, the wine was aged 16 months in a combination of neutral and new French oak barrels, adding layers of complexity in both flavor and texture. It is a delicious step up from the original Shroud Mountain, made with the utmost care from grape to glass, and complex and elegant enough that Napa Cab fans would happily call it their own.
