Description
Tapi Sauvignon Blanc
Named after the imperial Mt Tapuae-o-Uenuku (known locally as Tapi, pronounced “tap-ee”), this wine is as bold and memorable as the peak it’s named for, rising above the famous Marlborough wine region. Crafted by Altschwager Kenneally, Tapi is a true small-batch, family operation, two couples and four mates with a shared belief in making wines that honor the land. Every step is hands-on, every decision is driven by heart, and a commitment to sustainable and certified organic viticulture runs through everything they do. Grapes are sourced from the Central Wairau Valley and Rapaura sub-region, grown on silty loam soils over Greywacke, from 23-year-old vines harvested in April 2025. In the winery, 10% of the wine is barrel fermented in old French oak barriques with the remaining 90% in stainless steel, and 100% is lees aged for four months, giving this Sauvignon Blanc a little extra texture and complexity without losing its signature freshness.
