Martell VS Cognac
Maison Martell, founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, is the oldest of the great cognac houses. At just 21 years old, Jean left his native Jersey to establish the House in Cognac, France, seizing the opportunity presented by the British aristocracy’s growing appreciation for the region’s eaux-de-vie. His commitment to excellence laid the foundation for a legacy that endures today.
Following Jean’s passing in 1753, his wife, Rachel Martell, took over the business and led it for nearly three decades. Her leadership was marked by a strong business acumen and a dedication to quality, encapsulated in her motto: “the best, without artifice.” Under her guidance, Maison Martell expanded its reach globally, with early exports to England, Northern Europe, India, North America, South America, Africa, and Asia. The House’s reputation for quality led to its cognacs being served on prestigious platforms like the Queen Mary, the Orient Express, and Concorde. Martell’s association with significant historical events, such as the signing of the First World War Armistice and the wedding of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco, further cemented its status as a symbol of luxury and refinement.
Remarkably smooth and fruity, Martell VS is perfect to be enjoyed in cocktails. Distilled from clear wines, this cognac offers a richer aromatic experience. Maison Martell is alone among the great cognac houses to distill exclusively clear wines, from which all the lees have been removed. This specificity results in the generous, authentic fruit aromas of Martell VS. A cognac remarkably smooth, elegant, with a great aromatic richness.
