Description
Templeton 6 Year Single Barrel Rye Whiskey
Templeton, Iowa, founded in 1882 by German immigrants, quickly developed a tradition of making rye whiskey, a craft they brought from the Old Country. During Prohibition, the town turned to hidden stills and bootlegging, with farmers, local officials, and even the priest working together to keep their famous rye flowing, eventually earning a reputation in speakeasies nationwide. In the early 2000s, Templeton revived its whiskey legally with “The Good Stuff,” later building a modern distillery in town to continue producing rye and expanding into bourbon. Though the operation has grown, Templeton remains rooted in its small-town heritage, with many of the same families still shaping the whiskey and the community today.
Since 2006, Templeton Distillery has supported the American rye revolution as the choice of those who seek a quality rye whiskey, whether sipped neat or as an added kick to a craft cocktail. With a 95% rye/5% malted barley mash bill, Templeton is aged in new American oak barrels with flavors inspired by the whiskey made by Templeton bootleggers a century ago. In the same town, with the same strong spirit.
