Description
Mendoza Vineyards Gran Reserva Malbec
Winemaker Richard Bonvin was born in Switzerland and has worked for some of the most notable producers in Brazil, Chile, South Africa and his native country. From 2004, Richard settled in Argentina. This project reflects his passion and talent as a winemaker and his love for Malbec.
Viticulture
The grapes come from a 90 year old single vineyard, with its original rootstock, located near the town of Pedriel in Lujan de Cuyo, a subregion of Mendoza. The semi-desert, arid climate has low rainfall, which is perfect for growing Malbec grapes. Harvesting takes place during the middle of April and all the grapes are hand picked.
Vinification
The grapes are hand sorted at the wienry before being cooled to 41 degrees Farenheit to undergo 3 days of cold maceration. The wine is then naturally fermented at 81 degrees Farenheit. After fermentation, only the free run wine is then transferred to medium-toasted French Oak barrels for 18 months.
