Description
San Pedro 1865 Selected Collection “Desert Valley” Syrah
Viña San Pedro is one of Chile’s oldest and most storied wineries, with roots stretching back to 1865, a heritage that gives the 1865 Selected Collection its name. As part of the VSPT Wine Group, one of the largest wine producers in the country, San Pedro has spent generations exploring Chile’s diverse landscape in search of the best possible expression of each variety it works with.
The Desert Valley Syrah comes from the Elqui Valley in northern Chile, a striking and unusual place to grow wine grapes. Elqui is technically a desert region, framed by the Andes on one side and the Pacific on the other, with some of the clearest skies in the world. Vines here experience intense sunshine during the day and a dramatic drop in temperature at night, a swing that concentrates flavor in the fruit while preserving the acidity and freshness that keep the wine balanced. It is this combination of desert intensity and cool-night relief that gives Elqui Syrah its distinctive character.
